Duke Behavioral Health Informatics Implements Decision Support Rules to Achieve Compliance with Centers for Medicare Services Pay-for-Performance PQRI Initiative
Raleigh, NC – June 11, 2007 – Duke University’s Behavioral Health Informatics Division, a leading developer of clinical information systems for Behavioral Healthcare, today announced its ability to meet the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) “Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) “pay for performance,” (P4P) initiative that begins on July 1. Of the 74 measure CMS currently only mandates one for psychiatry, treatment of major depressive disorder.Those participating providers who report the applicable measures in at least 80% of their covered encounters between July 1 and December 31, 2007, will receive a bonus that may be as high as 1.5% of their total allowed charges from fee-for-service Medicare for that period.
Using the decision support rules engine in Duke’s behavioral health EMR, CRIS, (Clinical Research Information System) customers are guided through the CMS quality P4P measures for Major Depressive Disorder. Duke Behavioral Health Informatics also provides rule sets to comply with the CMS PQRI P4P measures for Screening for Future Fall Risk, Medication Reconciliation, and Advance Care Plans
